Craig McCorquodale - Landmark
Resident 13 to 17 August 2024
Craig McCorquodale will be working on the Research and Development for a new site-specific performance for town squares, alongside Scenographer Rachel O'Neill and Composer/Sound Designer Greg Sinclair.
Staged outdoors in a town square at sunset, a structure is built in front of a local landmark and populated with people who live there - creating a living monument about a neighbourhood. Somewhere between theatre and live cinema, Craig is building a form that allows the audience to people watch, as if they are walking the streets at night, looking up and watching the windows come alive, imagining private lives unfolding in public space.
In the studio, Craig is working with collaborators to understand an aesthetic world that zooms in on the many lives we live right next door to, positioning the mundane and the extraordinary side-by-side.
