Megan Rooney: MOMMA! MOMMA!

MOMMA! MOMMA! is the first solo exhibition in Scotland for Canadian artist Megan Rooney.

Rooney is an enigmatic storyteller; her work expands across painting, performance, written and spoken word, sculpture and installation. For MOMMA! MOMMA!, she creates a new site-specific installation, populated by figures and objects that lurk on the periphery of written and performed narratives.

In Rooney’s characteristic visual language, environments are vacated and sinister, but also inviting and intimate, begging the question — who, or what, lives here? And when, or how, might they be reanimated?

This exhibition has been commissioned and co-curated in collaboration with publisher and producer MAP, and in association with the MAP commission Others got wings for Flying.

COMING UP: Performance, Thursday 7 December

The exhibition will conclude with a performance by Andrew Graham & Megan Rooney, curated by Louise Briggs and commissioned by MAP in partnership with Tramway, and generously supported by Creative Scotland and Canada Arts Council.
