Frauke Requardt: Mothers/Eleanor Sikorski
DOUBLE BILL DIG Double Bill – Frauke Requardt: Mothers / Eleanor Sikorski
9 & 10 May, 8pm
The Place presents Frauke Requardt’s Mothers (9pm)
WORLD PREMIERE
Godmother, Birth mother, Working mother, Earth mother, Mother-tongue, Motherland, MothercareTM, MILF.
Frauke Requardt (a mother) dunks you in the mess.
Mothers is a dance across sticky surfaces with slippery bodies. Time is interrupted (MUMMY!) time drags on (AGAIN! AGAIN!) .
This is relentless, this is ferocious, this is euphoric. This is tiny and tender.
Frauke has been making odd, dark and chaotic work for over ten years. In this new performance she is joined by Neil Callaghan and Jake Ingram-Dodd for the mother lode of the mother of all Mothers for everyone… and their mother.
Recommended for ages 14+
Eleanor Sikorski: Comebacks I thought of later (8pm)
Have
you ever wished you had thought of something to say back to that idiot,
if only you’d had your wits about you? Or re-played a conversation in
your head, just to work out what your best line could have been? We all
have. This is about that.
In the first show of our double bill,
Sikorski takes some relatively shit experiences and turns them on their
head. Tragedy becomes beauty. Regret becomes comedy.
25mins
