Printshop! is both an exhibition of collaborative work by Edwin Pickstone and Giles Round, and a functioning studio for visitors to participate in artist-led print. The large scale work produced within the Caseroom of The Glasgow School of Art provides a setting for introductory workshops to techniques such as screenprinting, bookbinding and letterpress. Through the act of printing and reprinting, the gallery becomes a site for the production of print.

Edwin Pickstone (b.1982, Manchester, UK) lives and work in Glasgow. He is currently Tutor and Typography Technician at The Glasgow School of Art, where since 2005 he has cared for the school’s collection of letterpress printing equipment. Focusing on the material nature of print Pickstone uses letterpress equipment in his own work as well as collaborating with artists and designers on a wide range of projects. His work spans academic, artistic and design worlds, with particular interest in the history of typography, graphic design, print and the nature of the book. He has spoken and exhibited internationally.

Giles Round (b.1976, Europe) lives and works in London. His work encompasses sculpture, design, typography and architecture. Through these various forms he engages with the discourse and ideas that dismantle hierarchies between applied and fine arts. Since 2011, he has been working on a series of conceptually driven long-term and large-scale projects including The Grantchester Pottery, The Coniston Secession with Grizedale Arts and Design Work Leisure with London Underground.
