“A tour de force, and a highlight of this year’s SOUND Festival”
Emeritus Professor Pete Stollery, Composer (Chair of SOUND)

In 2022-23, Nichola Scrutton produced Night Vision, a contemplative, dynamic performance for voice ensemble that crosses territory between concert, theatre and live art. Development included a Tramway Supports residency.

Following an album release early in 2023, the work was performed at CCA, Gallery of Modern Art, and SOUND Festival, Aberdeen. The live performance is at the heart of Night Vision – an improvised aspect which means that each performance is unique, as the conductor sculpts the five voices in real time.

Nichola is currently producing two other iterations of Night Vision – a short film and a publication. During this time at Tramway, Nichola will be working with film footage shot during the previous residency, along with performance and other visual/sound materials.
